Babysitting Policy
TRULY SCRUMPTIOUS NURSERY Babysitting Policy
No Babysitting Policy
At Truly Scrumptious Early Years Nurseries, we operate a strict No Babysitting Policy. This policy is in place to actively safeguard the wellbeing of all children in our care, as well as to protect our staff.
Policy Statement
Employees, volunteers, students, or any individuals affiliated with Truly Scrumptious Early Years Nurseries are not permitted to offer babysitting, home care, or any other form of childcare to children currently on roll at the nursery, outside of nursery hours or premises.
Rationale
The safety and protection of children is our highest priority. When staff care for children in their own homes or outside the nursery’s supervision, we cannot ensure:
-
The safety and welfare of the children or staff.
-
Protection from potential allegations.
-
Adherence to our standards of safeguarding, confidentiality, and professionalism.
Babysitting arrangements create a conflict of interest and blur the line between professional and personal relationships. This can compromise our responsibilities under safeguarding legislation, data protection laws, and public liability.
Risks and Concerns
-
The nursery cannot guarantee that other adults present during private babysitting arrangements have been DBS-checked or are suitable to care for children.
-
Any such private arrangement lies outside the jurisdiction and responsibility of the nursery.
-
Issues related to confidentiality, impartiality, and health and safety fall outside our control in such circumstances.
Enforcement
All staff are made fully aware of this policy as a condition of their employment. Any breach of this policy will be treated as a serious disciplinary matter and may result in formal disciplinary action.
